5-a-side Powerleague Tournament

Neatherd attended the competition with two strong teams of five. This of course meant no substitutes, but at least everyone playing got lots of time on the pitch. After the short drive in from Dereham, an early arrival meant time for a quick warm up game when Miss Ayrton taught the girls a few tricks.

Team A

Juliette

Zoe

Emily

Laura

Chelsie

Game 1 Team A kicked off first with a match against Hellesdon, who were clearly up for the game. A bruising first match saw Neatherd come away with a 5-1 defeat! Neatherd made a slow start, but strong and sometime fair tackling gave Hellesdon the upper hand, and they made the most of their opportunities. Juliette did score a goal for Neatherd.  After the game, Neatherd nursed their many knocks from the game! Game 2 Neatherd started really well in their second game and earned a great 3-1 win. Juliette got a hat trick, including two penalties! Game 3 saw Neatherd get another great win. Laura scored twice with two super goals, to give us a 2-1 win. Emily, Zoe and Chelsie were great in defense, and Laura and Jules seemed to keep scoring! Game 4 The last game saw another Neatherd win. This time Laura and Jules got a goal each, the second set up by Juliette with a great Maradona spin, for Laura to finish well. Overall Team A won 3 and lost 1. With 2 seconds of the final game, we had qualified to the Semi-Finals, but Hellsdon got a last gasp goal to put them through. Gutted!

Team B

Sian

Carrie-Ane

Faye

Hannah

Charlotte Dowson

Team B were in a league of just 4 teams, as one of the CNS teams withdrew at the last minute. Game 1 Neatherd started really well, a great turn and shot from Hannah saw us take a 1-0 lead. The after the opposition getting an equalizer, Charlotte turned beat a defender, then played a clever 1-2 off the back wall before slotting home calmly. Then Hannah scored after Carrie-Ane won the ball, and Charlotte finished the game off with a great finish to give Neatherd a convincing 4-1 win. Game 2 The second game saw a close game got to the wire, and although Hannah scored a goal, we lost 2-1. Game 3 The final game of the tournament for Team B was a hard fought 1-1 draw. We sneaked in at the last minute with Charlotte scoring another great goal. Overall the team did really well and also finished second in the league. With Hannah and Charlotte banging in the goals we were always likely to stand a chance. Carrie-Ane and Sian played really well in defense and Faye linked play well.
