Mr Sinclair and Miss Aryton drove the team to Carrow Park first thing in the morning. We parked in the Norwich City Football Ground Car Park (See the Photo!)
We arrived with plenty of time to spare, so the girls had a kick around, some tactical talks and then an official warm-up from the FITC coaches.
There were two leagues of five, with the top two teams in each league going forward to the semi-finals.
1st Match v Aylsham High. Our warm-up match, getting used to the pitch and everything, played okay, had most of the play, but couldn't score. Neither could they, and the game ended 0-0.
2nd Match v Diss High. A much better performance, Sophie, Leah and Paige defended really well. Up front RIanna, Anya and Ashleigh had lots o shots, but it was Ashleigh who won the game with a super shot into the top corner. We won 1-0.
3rd Match v Notre Dame High. We had so many shots, Rianna hit the post from kick off and we generally peppered the goal with shots, but somehow we didn't score...and they did. We lost 1-0.
4th Match v KES. Our last league match, needed to win or draw to stand a chance of getting through. KES were strong, very strong, but we battled well, Hannah was great in goal Leah was awesome at the back with Sophie and Paige. Ashliegh was busy up front with Anya and Rianna. Unfortunately they scored, we looked out of it, but Rianna scored a stunning goal to level the match. It ended 1-1.
If Notre Dame didn't win in the last match we were through to the Semi Finals, but with a minute to go they scored, which meant we were out!
Overall...a fabulous performance from the team, most of whom were a year too young! Good to see the George elatives come and support...much appreciated! Great tackling, passing, shooting and goal keeping meant we went away happy, despite not getting to the semi finals. Better luck next year.
Thanks to Miss Aryton for driving, all that was left was a quick walk round and in the Norwich City Stadium. A good day had by all!
Hannah and Ashleigh start to pray for a Norwich City win!
